Every phone call to or from a Tried agent runs over SIP into LiveKit, where the agent worker joins the call. A number gets there in one of two ways:
- Bought through Tried. The API buys the number from Telnyx (or Twilio) and connects it to LiveKit SIP for you. Buying is API only: see Get a phone number. Needs keys
- Connected over your own SIP trunk. You keep the number with your carrier or PBX and point it at Tried. In the dashboard this is Connect via SIP trunking on the Phone Numbers page.
